A Farewell To Blogging

Blogging is perhaps one of the greatest adventures offered by modern communication. Four years ago, when I started BlueMonk Moods, I had no idea what blogging would represent for me as a journalist and music writer. I am not sure if during these past four years I became a better writer. I know I've become a much mature reader and listener. I also know this— blogging has rewarded me with the opportunity of meeting so many friends around the world. As Henry Miller would say, «That's all that matters to a writer.»

But now it's time to embark on another journey, one which, I hope, will help me conquer my fears and insecurities as a fiction writer. This means that I need peace of mind to finish a novel and finally become a publish author. And since the bug of photography hasn't bitten me enough, I'll also keep shooting as a photographer. All this comes after a long soul searching which has drained my energies and left me flat depressed. Thus the need to work somewhere else. So I'll be leaving Miami to follow another old calling: teaching as a college professor.

Miami has been more than generous to me, but I need to breathe new airs. I'll miss the city, the people, perhaps the music. But most of all, I'll be missing my friends. Nevertheless, I'm ready to hear other voices and live in other rooms, to paraphase the title of a great Truman Capote novel.

The blog will be open again pretty soon under the reigns of my dear friend Manuel Dueñas, a superb writer and editor. You can get in touch with him at the following address: manuel.duenas@bluemonkblog.net. Or you can continue visiting the archives by clicking on the piano keys image above. Thanks for reading. Aquele abraço.
